Gomer Herefords
Welcome to Gomer Herefords

13th May 2012
We spent a really enjoyable day as guests of the Goodall Family today.  Dyfed held their AGM in the morning and then over a truly delicious lunch we were joined by Powys.  We walked around the hereford herd and saw amongst others two fine bull calves by Solpoll Ferrari and Border Rory D66 .  The cattle behaved impeccably, being handled in the field by many.  After viewing some smart young bulls we climbed aboard the trailer for a tour of the commercial cattle and a climb up to the top of the farm for a breathtaking view.  The family made everyone extremely welcome and the attention to detail was really appreciated, from the road signs to the photos around the hall.

Welcome to Gomer Herefords, a pedigree herd of  Hereford cattle located near Llandeilo, at the western tip of the Brecon Beacons in Carmarthenshire.

At nearly 700 feet above sea level, some of the land on Onnen Fawr is classed as severely disadvantaged but this does not prevent this classic native breed from thriving solely on grass.  Although the herd is entirely pedigree, it is run on a commercial basis. Gomer Herefords are part of the Breedplan Performance scheme, details of which can be found on the Hereford Cattle Society website.

Tim & Alice Amery are also members of Hi-health Herdcare and are accredited with Elite status, the herd being free from BVD, IBR, Lepto and Johne's disease.

Visitors are always welcome, but please call first on either 01558 822973 or 07836 758007
